Through Art now offers Visual Art workshops to VAC service providers.

My World

My World provides an opportunity for children to reflect on their neighbourhood, and the people and places within it that help them to feel they belong. Children explore their creativity to make unique collaged wall hangings that depict what and who is important in their world. My World engages children in experiential artistic practices, including printing-making, collage and illustration.

Outcomes

• Children reflect, investigate, solve-problems and make decisions about conceptual ideas and practical artistic techniques.

• Children explore their communities and relationships, contributing to a strong sense of identity and wellbeing.

• Children experience and learn methods for printing-making, collaging and illustration.

• Children express themselves and their ideas creatively, while also developing practical fine-motor skills, hand eye coordination, visual perception skills and concentration.

• Every child takes home a unique masterpiece to proudly show off to their family and friends.

Children become part of the entire process from concept design, set-up and creation.

Our World Special Requirements

• We require children’s drawings that explore ideas of belonging, being and becoming at least 10 days before the first day of holidays. Set up a submissions box and ask all your children to submit their ideas.

• The mural can be painted inside or outside, and be painted directly on a wall or on a moveable board. We appreciate a photo of the space to be painted.Through Art requires walls to be ready for painting. Please keep in mind we can not paint on top of any oil based paint or varnish. Please ask us for advice if you have concerns. If choosing to have your mural painted on board, this will need to be cut, appropriately undercoated and weatherproofed (if outside a marine grade board is required).
